Making a difference in 2024
At Pure, we believe in making a positive impact that goes beyond recruitment. So throughout 2024, our teams have worked with a range of local charities to support their vital work, and give back to the communities we live and work in. In this article, we’ll tell you more about the incredible organisations we’ve partnered with and how we’ve made a difference together.
Ipswich
Our Ipswich office raised over £2,200 for SARS (Suffolk Accident Rescue Service). SARS’ specialist volunteers help the East of England Ambulance Service at the scenes of serious medical emergencies, both at the roadside and in people’s homes. SARS rely on donations and fundraising as they don’t get any funding from the government.
We raised our donation for SARS through our annual quiz and raffle, as well as by donating the proceeds from various development programmes.
Paul Sheldrake, Director in our Ipswich office, had this to say about SARS: ‘We’re very proud to have raised over £2,000 for SARS in 2024. They’re always very grateful for our contribution – they come to our quiz nights and let us know what they’re spending our donation on. They’re a proactive charity that’s largely staffed by volunteers. So we’re happy to raise as much publicity and as many donations as we possibly can.’
Cambridge
Our Cambridge office raised nearly £1,200 for Woodgreen in 2024. This special organisation provides safe shelter, specialist care and a brighter future for thousands of pets.
We also did some fundraising for Cambridge Women’s Resources Centre (CWRC), donating just over £600. CWRC is run by and for the women of Cambridge, and has been providing vital support and resources for over 40 years. They help women facing poverty, homelessness, violence and abuse, and those involved with the criminal justice system.
Caroline Batchelor, Director, said the following about the Cambridge office’s fundraising: ‘This year we’ve supported Woodgreen with various fundraising activities including bake sales and a quiz night, and by donating proceeds from development programmes.
Our fundraising for CWRC includes more bake sales and development programmes, as well as running a half marathon, a quiz night, and collecting toiletries and clothes to donate. We’ll also continue to raise awareness about this wonderful charity’s work.’
Finally, the team also donated the proceeds from the last People Leaders Lab (one of our development programmes for HR professionals) to the Phoenix Trust, a social enterprise based in Milton. Phoenix offers work experience to young people and adults with learning disabilities and special, additional or complex needs.
Chelmsford
Our Chelmsford team raised almost £800 for Trust Links, a local independent charity aiming to improve mental health, wellbeing and the environment in Essex.
Sarah Freeman, one of our Senior Consultants, told us: ‘As a team we've raised almost £800 this year with a variety of events – including bake sales, charity walks and helping with Christmas parties for the children that go to Trust Links' Westcliff centre. We've also donated money from ticket sales for our HR development programme in Chelmsford.’
Laura Turner, Consultant in our Chelmsford office added, ‘We’re proud to have raised these funds to support Trust Links. And we hope we've also raised awareness about the charity to make local people aware of the support that's available.’
Norwich
After running a successful quiz night, our Norwich team were pleased to donate nearly £2,000 to Leeway, a charity providing free and confidential support to anyone experiencing domestic abuse. They have eight safe houses and a team of more than 50 people giving advice, support and information.
Joseph O'Sullivan, a Senior Managing Consultant from our Norwich office has this to say about the donation: ‘We were delighted to run such a successful quiz night to raise money and awareness for this small but vital local charity’.
