Best Employers

Announcing our Best Employers 2025 charity of the year – Arthur Rank Hospice Charity

Best Employers is our flagship employee engagement programme, co-founded with eras in 2012. Through it, we help organisations across the eastern region evolve their workplaces for the better with insights, tools and knowledge.

One thing you might not know is that Best Employers is a not-for-profit programme. Giving back to the communities that we live and work in is part of our DNA, so after we’ve covered the programme’s costs, we donate the surplus money from entry fees and ticket sales to a local charity. In fact, since launching in 2012, Best Employers has donated over £56,000 to deserving causes. Charities can even take part in the programme for free.

This year we’ve chosen to donate to Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.

Why Arthur Rank Hospice Charity?

This impressive organisation helps people in Cambridgeshire living with advanced serious illnesses or other life-limiting conditions, as well as those who need end-of-life care. They provide these services to patients and their families for free.

Each year, around 3,600 patients are cared for at the Hospice in Cambridge, the Alan Hudson Centre in Wisbech and in their own homes thanks to the Arthur Rank Community Team. The charity prides itself on helping people improve their quality of life and fulfil their end-of-life choices.

This type of generous care doesn’t come cheap though. In 2024 and 2025, it’ll cost Arthur Rank Hospice over £13 million to run their services. They receive £7.9 million from the NHS for contracted services, but that means they still need to raise over £5 million by the end of this financial year.

We hope that our Best Employers’ donation will go some way to help.

Driving success with employee engagement

We haven’t just chosen Arthur Rank Hospice for the amazing work they do for people in our region. They’re also a powerful advocate for employee engagement and have taken part in Best Employers for several years.
In 2016 they won the award for ‘Best Large Employer for Customer Focus’. This was followed by a gold accreditation in 2021.

These accolades reflect the many ways Arthur Rank Hospice are using their Best Employers’ survey results to build a positive and engaged workforce.
