Pure crowns Genie Ventures ‘Employer of the Year’ at annual Cambridge Business Excellence Awards
We were delighted to present Genie Ventures with the Pure Award for Employer of the Year at the Cambridge News & Media Business Excellence Awards last night (Thursday 22nd March).
Pure sponsors the Employer of the Year award as part of its ongoing purpose of celebrating and promoting the fantastic employers and places to work in our region. This award is a great opportunity to celebrate the companies which are achieving success by putting employees at the heart of the business. It recognises the organisation which has successfully engaged its employees by inspiring, motivating, developing and rewarding them.
David Culley, Director at Pure, presented Genie Ventures with the well-deserved accolade at the Gala Dinner held at the Great Hall, King’s College. The digital marketing and publishing agency was one of three companies shortlisted in the Employer of the Year category alongside publishing firm CPL and CPS Building Services. It was selected as the winner in recognition of the massive strides it has taken in setting a cultural change programme and developing a coaching culture which encourages positive support, inclusiveness and trust.
David Culley said: “This award celebrates the businesses which have successfully created a culture where employees are encouraged to work together to achieve business objectives. Genie Ventures is a fantastic example of this. The agency has created a work hard, play hard ethos though flexible working, provides excellent learning and development opportunities and has created a culture of honest, transparent communication, including a monthly ‘ask the boss anything’ session. As a result, its talent retention rate is an impressive 95 per cent.
“Winning an award like this will be a hugely motivating experience for all the team. It is also an excellent endorsement for the business. It will help to distinguish them from their competitors and promote the agency as a great place to work. This boost to employer brand will inevitably help to attract future talent into the business.”
The annual Business Excellence Awards features a wide range of categories for organisations of all sizes and industries. Other awards also presented on the night included Business of the Year, Business Person of the Year and the High Growth Award.
David added: “We would like to congratulate all the winners and finalists. It’s a huge privilege to have been part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of this award night. It is an event that has become firmly established as a key highlight within the Cambridge business calendar.”
Previous winners of the Pure-sponsored Employer of the Year Award include Bidwells, Cambscuisine, Mills and Reeve, Cambridge Building Society and Cambridge Consultants.
