The regional recruitment consultancy, Pure Resourcing Solutions (Pure) and its employees are seeing the amazing results of their fundraising for a rural school in The Gambia, West Africa.

Supported by the educational charity Goal for the Gambia, school children at Kitty Madarasul Al-huda School are benefitting from £2,000 raised by Jo Bromwich of Fen Ditton, Recruitment Consultant at Pure. The money was put to good use immediately, funding a new classroom and nursery and toilet block for the over-crowded school.

Jo’s passion also inspired the company to dig deep and make a corporate donation to sponsor two teachers.

“Charity support is at the core of our company ethos, so we made a donation to Goal for the Gambia instead of sending Christmas cards last year and we are thrilled that it is already benefitting children and their local community,” said Gill Buchanan, Director of Pure. “It’s wonderful that our donation is already paying salaries for teachers at Kitty School who were previously each earning just a few pounds per month.”

Sandy Sanyang, founder of Goal for the Gambia, said,

“In a poor country where only 65% of primary school aged children attend school, we’re thrilled that Pure’s contribution is helping build a brighter future for more children. Since we use every penny from donations, we have been able to put the money to excellent use and build desperately needed buildings in a school that was in an awful state.”

Jo added,

“My husband and I were privileged to be among the first ever tourists to visit the school and meet the local community. We’re proud to be involved with Goal for the Gambia and see how they’re giving children an essential education - something that we often take for granted in the UK.”

Pure employees also donated Christmas presents for the children last December and plans to continue supporting Goal for the Gambia in the future.
